The Rockaway Boro Education Foundation is a local non-profit corporation which has been established to:

• Recognize and promote educational excellence in the Rockaway Boro public schools

• Generate private funding and community support for Lincoln Elementary and Thomas Jefferson Middle schools

• Operate on a model common to all Local Education Funds/Foundations in which collaboration between educators, families, individuals, extended community groups, corporations and businesses, provides the foundation the ability to launch initiatives which will lead to school improvement

What You Should Know About the Rockaway Boro Education Foundation:

• This is a non-profit organization that will operate under an established business model developed for educational foundations

• The RBEF is currently applying in the State of New Jersey as a non-profit corporation and will be a 501(C)3 IRS tax-exempt organization. All donations will be tax exempt

• This Foundation will benefit the children of Rockaway Boro and will be operated as an independent non-profit corporation.

• The Rockaway Boro Education Foundation will offer a Before and After school program beginning in September 2010.

The RBEF will host fundraisers throughout the year. Proceeds raised will go towards achieving our short and long term goals. We look forward to the support of our community in working towards improving the educational experiences for Rockaway Boro’s students.

The Foundation will provide educational enrichment opportunities that the local school budget cannot support, due especially to constraints imposed by the state. An initial goal will be to provide grants to Lincoln and TJ schools for educational purposes. Our goal for the first year is to raise $75,000.

The economy has been struggling the last couple of years. During these trying times everyone has been impacted. Some have endured layoffs, some frozen salaries, some decreased salaries or work hours.

The State of New Jersey is no exception. The current state government has imposed extreme budgetary changes and restrictions on local public school budgets.

During these extremely difficult times we, as a community can support our local schools. We can do so with volunteerism and financial support. The RBEF is established to provide support of Lincoln and Thomas Jefferson Schools. Together we can make a difference!
